Unveiling the Wonders of Science

Last March 23, 2024, Saturday, We had a Science Fair.  If I could remember, it was just like the science fair I experienced when I was in Elementary. Seeing the innovativeness and how creative people can become in science really amazed me. We were all separated into groups, I was kind of disappointed because I wanted to go with the other Grade 10s but nevertheless, the experience was still enjoyable.

Our first station was the climate station, this station had lots of interactive tools and attractions. When I first entered the room, I saw lots of posters and infographics on climate change. They started off with a discussion and showed us a short video on climate change. I truly was saddened by how the earth is slowly being destroyed because of us humans thus leading to climate change. It was fun to learn about the ways you can be innovative and help this from worsening or how you can reduce greenhouse gases. Firstly, They told us about the 3Rs which were Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and how you can help our environment with just that simple action. There were also other interactive tools like the hand boiler, the bicycle turning kinetic energy into electricity, and the windmill which you blow with air and it lights up a bulb. I think the coolest one of all the interactive tools was the bicycle because this shows how you can lessen pollution while also exercising. It tells us that with just the simple things you can easily find in our households, you can effectively save the earth slowly but surely.

The next station was the Mars station, this station explained how Mars could be a potential substitute for Earth. Mars has all the qualities that you could possibly have on Earth, it is inhabitable. But that still is yet to be confirmed as astronauts are still working on proving this because Mars is the closest you can have for a substitute. I think that astronauts are amazing, I learned that it takes so long for them to reach other planets and having to sacrifice their lives just for new discoveries. I think the astronaut food was pretty cool. There were also interactive tools there such as the buzz wire, I tried this and lost almost immediately. There were also displays of lego and I found the Wall-E figure really adorable. This station was really interesting for me because I have an interest on astronomy.

The last station was the planetarium. I remember already experiencing this when I was in elementary but seeing it again was surreal and this whole station was the most interesting of them all. The most memorable part of this planetarium would be the constellations, learning about the different kinds of constellations and the backstories of these really piqued my interest. I was shook to see that it was supposedly 13 zodiac signs but because 13 is an unlucky number they kept it 12. Everything about this entire station was aesthetic and beautiful, I think the experience would forever be stuck in my memories.

In conclusion, the Science Fair gave us a glimpse of the wonders in Science. Although it was mostly focused on astronomy, it was still a wondrous learning experience for me and to everyone who experienced this. This Science fair proved that Science isn't only about experiments and boring stuff, but could also be fun. It showed how this benefits the world and our surroundings. I learned that with the simplest actions and having awareness can save our planet. "Science unveils the wonders of our world, inviting us to marvel, learn, and explore."
